Seal degradation from heat
Cold plastisol fails to conform to glass rims. FPM implements steam pre-heating rails to soften seals.
Container & Closure Adaptation
Twist-Off Metal Cap (TO-58 / TO-66 / TO-82).
Format Adaptation Details
Format Adaptation Details
Standard metal caps (TO-58 / TO-66 / TO-82) with plastisol liner for steam vacuum sealing.
Twist-off Cap
Cap sorter elevator & magnetic capping chuck jaws
Cap outer diameter range & inner liner thickness
High-acid hot-fill tomato paste, vacuum-sealed particulate tomato sauce, preserves.
No direct contact, but filling volume and headspace ratio must be precise. Headspace volume directly determines the final steam condensation vacuum.
Requires custom-molded capping chucks and preheating steam pipes. The cap thread pitch must engage the glass jar neck perfectly.
Requires anti-rotation top belts. If the cap has a safety-button indicator, orientation sensors must check the vacuum button flatness.
200 pcs of metal twist-off caps (e.g. TO-58, TO-66, TO-82) with liners, and 50 matching glass jars for capping torque trials.
Packaging Line Risks
Cold plastisol fails to conform to glass rims. FPM implements steam pre-heating rails to soften seals.
Excessive capping torque bends metal claws causing vacuum loss. FPM calibrates hysteresis clutches.
Incorrectly oriented caps block mechanical tracks. FPM uses magnetic/waterfall sensor sorters.
Engineering Response
Softening the cap PVC plastisol to form a custom hermetic rim seal.
Fabricating exact metallic matching inserts for the selected cap code.
Spraying saturated steam into glass container neck prior to seal release.
Integrating a high-speed acoustic button check sensor to reject failures.
